PROJECT BACKGROUND
Since the previous urban planning methods are outdated, various problems have begun to appear in Sha Tin. The most urgent issue is the land use problem. According to the questionnaire survey results and data, residents need a creative, accessible, and thematic public space. They even suggested that facilities such as arts and cultural areas and gardens set up in the district. Moreover, the Tuen Ma Line's development is also bringing a considerable population and mobility to Sha Tin. Therefore, it is essential to set up a new cultural and artistic district to improve the district's disadvantage in the Sha Tin District.
PROJECT CONCEPT
To cooperate with the Tuen Ma Line development, the East coast of Shing Mun River has excellent potential for development. Using the concept of "Blossom Age" to activate the space under the elevated railway, it forms a new cultural district in the community, so that people can enjoy the best moments with families and friends. It integrates the local community while connects 6 major communities on both sides of Shing Mun River. Moreover, the project corresponds to the cultural atmosphere of the Hong Kong Heritage Museum. In addition to being a gathering place on weekdays, cultural festivals will be held every year to provide various artistic activities, such as art installation, exhibitions, music performances, and workshops.
