The endorsement of imperfection has been all the rage in the West in recent years, which emphasises personal charisma (eg self-confidence, independence, and uniqueness) and self-cultivation. Yet, this is not popular in the East – the disdain for and discrimination of imperfection still exist – and that is the reason why Pépites has been created. Hopefully the Pépites app helps promote the acceptance of imperfection, discourage criticism, and heal the wound of being looked down and discriminated.
Pépites is a story sharing and simulation mobile application in cooperation with a local story-sharing platform, Storyteller. Through telling stories of different people, it gives comfort and helpful suggestions to users in times of difficulty to soothe their souls. The major target audience of Pépites are the young adults (aged 18–25) with low self-esteem and the ‘socially-challenged groups’ (eg unsuccessful workers, the underprivileged, and singletons).
