People · Communications · Architecture
PROJECT BACKGROUND
In this international collaborative project: Urban Futures: People · Communications · Architecture, students of HKDI and Ravensbourne University London (Ravensbourne) jointly explored how complex issues of urban change could be made tangible through cross-continental and cross-disciplinary exchange of research and studio practice. Architecture, Interior Design and Communication Design students were challenged to observe, record, investigate and analyse different urban conditions in the designated areas and interacted with the inhabitants there, formulated their own insights and visualised new ideas as for new ideas for the streets and local communities of the area.
PROJECT CONCEPT
An exhibition was launched on 10 – 31 July 2020 at Openground, Sham Shui Po to showcase students' learning journey comprising research. The exhibition instigates reflection on cultures and communities, gentrification, sustainability, ageing population and poverty etc., and insights on shaping the urban futures, and drew public attention to the creative resolutions of urban development problems and related social issues creatively.
